Department of Chemical Engineering, TSEC was established in 1983. It has a long and distinguished history of successfully educating leaders for a wide variety of industries. Ever since its inception in 1983, the Institute has established itself as a premier institution engaged in imparting quality technological education.
It is well-equipped with state-of-the-art infrastructure and laboratories as per Mumbai University Syllabi, The Institute has highly qualified core faculty with an incredible professional profile to meet the emerging trends and challenges in the field of chemical engineering and allied areas on a global platform. The department is accredited by the national board of accreditation for a period of three years until June 2022.
The chemical engineering department strives to impart high quality technical education with a delicately struck balance of fundamental knowledge, practical exposure and novel concepts. We believe in providing our students with education that combines conceptual learning and the excitement of discovery with the support and intellectual stimulation of a diverse campus community. The department is committed to achieve excellence and evaluates the success and leadership of its programs using the highest standards of quality and innovation.
The department facilitates various training programmes in the form of mentorship for female students in collaboration with industries, tailor made internships to cater to the unique interests of students, regular lecture series by experts from various fields of chemical engineering and intentional honing of talents and skills of students to aid achieve their future career objectives.
- Conducting Guest lectures / Alumni lectures in the department by industrial experts, especially in engineering fields like energy, environment, safety, biochemical engineering and computerized process control.
- Organising national level conference on various recent developments.
- Industrial visits by staff and students of the department.
- Promoting Industrial training (internship) programmes for the students of the department.
The students undertake projects in final year under the guidance of a staff member. The topics are usually in subjects like modelling and simulation, unit operations, polymers, pollution control, and design of process industries. Many of the projects have led to publication. The department have also received AICTE -MODROB grant for two consecutive years 2012-13 and 2013-14 amounting to Rs 8 lakhs and awarded minor grants by the university of Mumbai multiple times.
The department had produced university toppers with regular consistency. The department emphasizes on all round development of its students; proof of which are the numerous instances where the students have made the college proud by winning laurels in various technical and nontechnical competitive events in the face of tough competition. Today our alumni work in many revered organizations like Deloitte, Accenture, LTI, Tecnimont, Maersk Tankers, Saffron Stays, Reliance, Aker Power Gas, Toyo Engineers, Tata Consulting Engineers ,SNC Lavalin, Worley parsons to name a few, at responsible positions.
