Mr.Sunil Gidwani

  • + Position: Training and Placement officer
  • + Dept: Training and Placement

THADOMAL SHAHANI ENGINEERING COLLEGE has been the pioneer in setting up a placement cell right since the inception even when it was perceived as a superfluous department by most of the other peer colleges. The placement cell as we call it is one of the active places in TSEC. It is headed by Prof. Sunil Gidwani who has been heading the department since June 2005.Prof Gidwani has an experience spanning 25 years in the academia. The cell has Prof Mudita Dikshit helping in the placements of chemical branch students

Mudita Dixit

Prof. Mudita Dixit

  • + Position: Training and Placement officer
  • + Dept: Training and Placement (Chemical and Biotech Engineering)

Prof Sunil Gidwani is ably supported by Prof Mudita Dixit in the Training and Placement activities of TSEC. She joined TSEC in 1996. She is a graduate (B.E.) in Mechanical Engineering from Govt. Engg. College, RGVV, Jabalpur-1994 and a post graduate (M.E.) in Machine Design from Sardar Patel College of Engg., Mumbai University-2008.

Besides her academic role Prof Dixit engages subjects like Engineering Drawing, Process Equipment Design & Drawing (PEDD) and Optimization and Operation Research. She has been Prof in charge of key activities of the institute like National Service Scheme (NSS-since year 2000) and Alumni Association. In her role of a Program Officer of NSS in Mumbai University, she has led several initiatives like organizing camps for blood donation, free medical check-ups, residential rural visits and child care projects for slum children. She has also been involved in various special projects of the institute, besides handling administrative and cultural responsibilities from time to time, like organizing annual cultural programmes. She has been mentoring students to build a strong moral fiber with a healthy attitude towards the society and the environment.

She has been instrumental in attracting corporate houses like Reliance Industries Ltd., BASF, UDHE India, AKER, Tata Consulting Engineers etc. to the institute in the last few years creating new placement opportunities for the students.

In any given year the no of companies visiting the campus is 25-40. The placement being a function of market driven forces it is directly connected to the world economy & the economy of the country. The reflection of the variation in the world economies and the economy of the country is clearly visible in the placement statistics.

Placement cell has been working with the following policies

  • All students get two job options.
  • The second job being the final.
  • The concentration of the cell is in getting maximum no of students placed.

ENTERPRENUERSHIP CELL

TSEC has now again been a pioneer in starting the ENTERPRENUERSHIP CELL which is also headed by Prof Sunil Gidwani. As told to us in the words of Prof Sunil “It is better to create job givers than job seekers” . The guiding policy being that if we can create even one percent of the students passing out as enterpreneur’s then our purpose is served.

PLACEMENT STATISTICS

The placement cell statistics are annexed and are easily comparable with the best of the institutes in the country.
